About Me

This blog contains random musings, general free association, links to anything I find amusing, shocking, horribly, or interesting, and whatever else I feel like posting.

Oh, you wanted to know more about me?

As the tagline says, I’m a twenty-somthing trans woman. If you’re not sure what that means, or want to know what that means to me, go do some research – on this blog, through some of the blogs in the blogroll on the right, through Google.

I’m also a theatre artist (wouldn’t call myself a writer or a director or an actor, though I’ve done all of those things, and too unsure of myself to call myself a performance artist as of yet…) and a big geek (my level of geektitude involves streaming videos via a Samba share from my NAS to my XBox Media Center in the living room).

Beyond that, you’ll just have to piece it together yourself.

  1. Hi Rebecca, I hpe you can help me. I have read in a blog about a testosterone gel used by a FtM, I am the mother of a MtF who doesn’t speak English; she has been assuming hormons since last year and would like to know if you have heard about the existence of a similar gel but for MtF and if it’s available outside USA since we live in Italy. Thanks so much for your kindness, I read your blog every day and I like to tranlate some of them for my blog…:-) Daniela

Hello Daniela. Thanks for reading. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with any testosterone or estrogen gels… It looks like Estrogel might be what you’re looking for, but I have NO experience with it. Hope that helps, and please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. If at all possible, I’d see if you can take your daughter to a doctor who works with gender issues.

  2. Rebecca, thanks so much for your kind answer but…we live in Italy which is a bit far from the USA, my FtM daughter is already a beautiful woman after just one year of hormons, she only would like to have her voice more feminine and in this post I have read the Tgel made this effect on a FtM so my daughter hopes that a similar gel may cause the same effect on her voice, I go on translating and publishing your posts in my blog, a great hug, Daniela

My understanding is that trans men are able to get deeper voices through hormones, because the vocal cords stretch out while on testosterone. Trans women, unfortunately, can’t get the same effect because estrogen doesn’t tighten the vocal cords. I could be wrong, but I don’t know how much luck you’ll have with raising your daughter’s voice with estrogen.

  3. Rebecca, in fact she has decided not to raise her voice with estrogen, she has fallen in love and her boy loves her as she is, also with this voice :-)

    Hi Ya Rebecca.
I am a MtF Transgendered person in stealth mode. I am so happy to see a “Sister” doing things that I wish I could. So we live vicariously through Girls like you. Just wanted to show some support because heaven knows we can’t ever get enough support. Also to express my appreciation for you Blog I linked yours to mine so that others like me can hear different voices from the Trans Family. Thanks again.
